Government Invites RTC Workers for Talks
The Telangana government has invited RTC workers for talks on February 10 to address their 21 demands, including the merger of RTC with the government and equal pay for equal work. Government Invites RTC Workers for Talks
In response to the demands of Telangana RTC workers, the government has invited them for discussions on February 10 at 4 PM. Notices have been issued by the Commissioner of Labour to both the RTC management and the RTC JAC (Joint Action Committee) to attend the meeting.
The TGS RTC JAC had already issued a strike notice on January 27, stating that they would begin a strike on February 9 or any day thereafter if 21 of their demands were not met. The strike notice was handed over to the ED of Operations at a meeting held at the Bus Bhavan.
Among the major demands made by the workers are the merger of RTC with the government, implementation of two PRCs (Pay Revision Commissions), salary revision for 2021, and equal pay for equal work with government employees. Additionally, workers have demanded that the RTC should purchase and operate electric buses.
The government has shown interest in holding discussions to resolve these issues. Officials have stated that talks are the best way to resolve the problems efficiently without leading to a strike.
